Blocks


This is a proof-of-concept of my graduation thesis at KISD. It shows the demo of an interactive advertising for the game Blocks. The video was designed and implemented by me.

Today the use of audio-visual contents on the internet has become a common practice. The daily use of this new media generates innovative types of advertising: audio-visual advertising especially is in flux. This as well as the fact that the game-industry is the fastest growing segment of the media industry has led me to explore viral marketing, social networks, game design and interactive advertising in my thesis, ultimately culminating in creating a new and innovative type of game advertisement.

Playing a game gives the best impression of its character. By getting to see, to experience a new game in a practical way, users can swiftly form an opinion about the new product and see its advantages and strengths. This is why a typical advertising effort is a game’s demo version. In my thesis, I combine a game demo with the advantages of viral marketing.
In addition to developing a game concept for Blocks, a location-based multiplayer strategy game, I created an interactive advertising which promotes the game via YouTube.
