RECORDS: I’m Yanely Espinal with another FinCap Friday brought to you by Next Gen Personal Financing. Shopping has changed drastically in the last 10 years! Now there’s online shopping, and delivery services available that gi us way more choices than ever for where and when we get to go shopping. Now that’s fantastic for us, but not for huge merchants like the Gap, Payless or even Household Dollar – these chains have each closed over 100 physical store areas in 2019. And it’s not just these business, since 2017 over 15,000 shops have closed down due to declining sales. And reports predict that much more shops are likely to close down since of the growing appeal of shopping online. When you buy things, it makes your brain launch a chemical called dopamine which makes you feel really good! But online shopping specifically – permits you to get that dopamine hit, AND also experience postponed gratification when ur order arrives a few days later on. That’s what makes it feel much more satisfying than shopping inside shops. But while countless stores are closing down, some are still really loaded with consumers- like Forever 21 – which is truly popular among teens in the United States. In order to keep clients entering their physical store places, they got actually imaginative and began using social media! If you publish an image of yourself in a Forever 21 attire and hashtag it, then show the cashier at the register, you can get 21 percent off your purchase. Macy’s caught on, and in their New York City place they made a shop screen that looks really cool and colorful so that people wish to take images and post videos on social media. The future of shopping is definitely going to continue to change and it looks like companies have better start believing outside the box if they wish to continue to draw in clients and have an opportunity at taking on online shopping.
