This session is a reality check about how Aotearoa is performing versus the SDGs We will learn about how the New Zealand Government’s policies are supporting progress in this location (or not), and what the top priorities for more work are. Political researcher and IPCC lead author on cities, and youth and sustainability issues professional Teacher Bronwyn Hayward (University of Canterbury) provides a brief introduction of the policy context of New Zealand’s action to date, while Girol Karacaoglu explores this more utilizing the information gathered through Victoria University of Wellington’s SDG Dashboard job. Finally, Ronja Ievers of Hui-E! Community Aotearoa reviews the People’s Report of 2019 to supply an update on progress made against its 39 suggestions for improvement. This foundational session assists refine concerns for New Zealand’s growing SDG movement.
