Quick and unclean product shot

Quick and filthy item shot.

My oldest pal who lives in Australia is dealing with an item catalogue design for a cutlery company. He would like to know how he might take a photo like the example he sent out to me as seen in my computer screen in the background of the setup shot.

Now, spoons as you understand are highly sleek and will show whatever. The art is controlling the reflections that will offer the shape of the things but not consist of reflections of anything else!

How I did it.
Lee diffusion sheet (tracing paper will do) this I positioned under the flatware on top of a piece of white paper to stop the colour of the wooden desk showing thru. I then needed to wrap the sheet over the top of the flatware hence providing me I kind of tent securing those reflections and a diffuser with infinity curve in the background. I required to in some way support the sheet above the flatware so “fast and dirty” a couple of water bottles sufficed!

The lighting was done by a remote canon flash weapon supported above the diffusion product set off by a pocket wizard flex in TTL mode set to 2 stops over exposure. This was done as the high crucial photo was deceiving the camera and the cam was exposing to 18% gray. The electronic camera I set to manual 200th sec to eliminate any ambient light and F4.5 with the electronic camera hand held near the based on manage depth of field. A fast crop and upping the levels a little was all that was needed before finally converting to greyscale to eliminate any undesirable colours overall time about 30 minutes. Less time than it took to prepare this post !!
Have a good time, Damon
