Touch Screen Banquet Table for Genes@co-op Cafe Barneys New York

As part of the relaunch of their 8th flooring Co-op at the flagship shop in New York, Barneys launched genes@co-op, an interactive cafe featuring a 30-foot long digital banquet table. We were asked to establish a concept for the table top that included a basic ordering system and interactive experience. Working with Observant Pixel’s backend technology and hardware, we developed the concept of a “digital river” that flows throughout the table made up of twenty-eight interactive touch screens. Dealing with the table both as one giant screen and 28 private screens, we produced a display screen interface where users can flawlessly buy food, browse Barneys New York short articles, products, and videos, and dine– all on the same surface.

All the material showed is repurposed from existing advertising, photography and postings from The Window online blog site, completely immersing consumers worldwide of Barneys New york city. Touching an item pulls up a content overlay and allows the user to engage with it further in addition to purchase items. Part of a larger rebranding for Barneys New York, this job consisted of a comprehensive design system for all of Barneys’ interactive style elements.
