Recently my spouse and I went to the Alps and I decided to bring the BMPCC4K with me. On the 2nd day we did among the most stressful and stunning hike I’ve ever done. We went up to Rifugio Garibaldi. The overall time fluctuating was about 7h. This is my 3rd time doing that walking and every time I ignore the length of time it is! Naturally I didn’t have a complete rig, however simply the electronic camera, cage, deal with, Power Addict by Blindspot with 2 NP-F970 batteries (and dummy battery) and a Canon FD 24mm f/2.8. I didn’t even bring the display and I totally forgot my Tiffen Variable ND. Everything fit completely in my knapsack, which wasn’t too heavy. All the large shots were recorded during that hike, while the long shots of the mountains were shot on a separate day with the cam full rigged, on the tripod and with my Canon FD 70-210. The PJ by Blindspot is actually an extremely clever option and I had the ability to shoot basically 7h with just 2 batteries. Definitely a clever solution if you wan na keep your camera light-weight.
As far as direct exposure goes I mainly exposed by eye, but always examining my incorrect colors to be sure I wasn’t overexposing. Keeping everything in the pink/green is excellent and if you have to underexpose a bit, that’s ok. With digital cams is way much easier to recover shadows than highlights, that’s why I do not suggest ETTR. A video about exposure will certainly come out at some time in September. I’ve been traveling considering that July 27th and I’ll be back in California on September 18th, so I’ll do my best. Whatever was shot at ISO 400.
As far as color goes I utilized the BUTTERY Natural Rec709 and after that I played around with contrast, WB and tint. Whatever was modified and graded in DaVinci Resolve 16.
